The Baker Award: Bret Hood, CFE

The James R. Baker Speaker of the Year Award is named for an ACFE faculty member who taught hundreds of classes and instructed thousands of anti-fraud professionals. The award was first presented to Jim Baker himself in 2008, and he died that same year after battling cancer. Since then, the award is given annually to a speaker who demonstrates the best qualities that Baker exhibited: Dedication. Experience. Knowledge. Professionalism.

A dynamic and insightful presenter, Bret Hood speaks both in the U.S. and abroad at industry events, and is a faculty member for the ACFE. Bret believes in the potential of data and technology to transform firm practice management, leadership and firm culture.

Congratulations to Bret Hood, the 2020 James R. Baker Speaker of the Year!
